What interface are you are using? What version of Cubase do you have? You probably need to set up input channels to match your inputs from your device and you will need a stereo output bus as well.

Have you read the manual for both your interface and Cubase?

Both should have some directions for getting started.

I had this problem when i first started out! You need to make sure that your channels are set correctly, if you click on the channels you want to record it will tell you what your inputs and out puts are you need to make those where they are compatiable with your interface and computer, and you probably want mono in and stereo out
