i've learned about cubase sx, sx3, and also nuendo 3. But i still counfuse how to make a sound flowing from left to right (inverse) (someone said to me that it's like panning from left to right (inverse), is it right?), for example, when my friend recorded a guitar sound on cubase sx ( oldschool cubase anyway, but still good =) ), and i operated the program. he asked whether the sound could flow from left to right. since, i haven't learned about it, i just answered him that i didn't know how to make it, so i would ask help to anyone here how to make it, or maybe there's a VST that can make it?
thx before. regards. Last edited by mbewofsv : 07-14-2008 at 05:32 AM. |

Very astute, uab9253. When I first read this question, I couldn't figure out what mbewofsv meant by 'inverse'. So mbewofsv, do you want the sound to move from the left speaker to the right speaker? Or do you want the sound to play backwards?

To me, "sound flowing right to left" means you want to automate panning. In other words, you want a mono track to start on one side and then move to the other.
This is done easily with automation. Read the section on Automation in the Cubase SX3 Manual. Then instead of selecting volume (which is default) select panning. You can then draw in any panning automation you want. Brandon

yes, like Ken Bennett and brandonfury said, i want the sound flowing from left to right, i mean the sound can move from left speaker to right speaker, inverse means that the sound can also flow from right to left. so sorry, i couldn't say it correctly, i think i should delete the word 'inverse', on my posting title. i need more advices. anyway, can i do it with cubase sx ?
thx before. Last edited by mbewofsv : 07-14-2008 at 05:32 AM. |

Yes. Do exactly what Brandon said in two posts up from this one, Automate the panning.
There's a 'W' button on each track. Click it and it lights up. Now while you play back just operate the pan control for that track when you want the sound to move. Cubase will remember what you did. Now press the 'R' button and play back. The panning that you did live will now happen automatically. If you didn't do it at exactly the time that you wanted to, you can show the automation track and edit it. Read the thing that Brandon said to read, or find it in the program's Help files. It's pretty easy. Good luck, KB
