Default Hello Everyone! Newbie with Cubase LE Problem

I'm a long-time singer/guitar player new to the world of home recording and I can't wait to get started!
I've purchased a ART Tube MP USB preamp/interface and am using Cubase LE for starters. I'm using a Rode NT1A mic.
Here's the problem.
The computer seems to recognize the ArtTube as 'USB Audio Codec' in control panel in both sound playback and recording.
The problem is I can't get any sound through to Cubase!
I start a new track and I hit record but nothing goes through. I know the box is putting out signal because I came see the meter lights working.
I think it has something to do with VST inputs but I've tried reading the manual and can't figure it out. When I click on VST inputs it shows me the sound card in 2 ports, the active light is lit and labels are IN1 and IN2.

I'm getting really frustrated, fighting with the wife yelling at the cats, etc!
HELP before I get divorced and become a dog lover.

Okay I know I'm a newbie!
So far no responses guys.
I'd like to think there's no question too dumb on this newbie thread.
I'd really appreciate some help.
I've tried reading the manual but perhaps I'm so new to this I'm not sure what to read

Thanks for your help in advance!

Semihollow,

I understand you are eager to get started so I'll offer the best advice I've got which may not be great. First understand that not many people here will have experience with your interface, which truth be known, is not exactly a true audio interface. I took the time to look through the device manual and it uses the Windows USB drivers for handling audio. This is not an ideal setup by a long shot. Cubase really wants to work with ASIO.

ART says "
Two current resources for low latency ASIO drivers that will work with the Tube MP Project Series
with USB are:
www.asio4all.com and www.usb-audio.com"

Many people have had success with ASIO4all and I think that is the route I would take.

In the meantime though, go into Cubase LE (not LE4 correct ?) > Devices> VST Multitrack> and look there under ASIO drivers. You may have some choices there. You'll need to experiment.

Good Luck. Happy Easter. -Dave

Thanks Electriclight!
Looking this over, you may be right about my choice of hardware.
I'm going in on Monday to see about switching this box out for another entry-level system, complete with 1/4 line in, XLR phantom, headphone outs.
I have a Rode NT1A without a high-pass filter. I used it on the Alesis at school and the high-pass worked very well.
Can I use a software based filter to the same effect as an actual physical filter
or does it have to be physically present between the mic and interface to cut any boominess?

I think that ART was a little deceptive with this device. The MP preamp is a nice unit that you can get for about $39 these days. They added USB to it but it really isn't what you probably need. As far as filtering, yes you can go the software route quite easily and with many more options.

PS.
