Default Exporting files

It's one thing after another with this program! Well, I am an amature so bare with me.

I need some serious help.
When I try to export the file it says that there is an error? That is all I know. Is there a computer error with my PC or the program? If I new more I could tell ya, but hopefully someone will save me by popping up in here and letting me know?

Thanks
Chris

First guess: Are your region arrows set the correct way?
( That's what I call them, I forget what the correct term may be, but, the two little arrows that you use to define the length of your song, up at the top of the work-area ).
You use them to set the area you want to loop (cycle playback), as well.

If they are, then the space above your song in between the arrows will be blue. If not, then the space will be red.

If it's red, switch places with the arrows and try exporting.

Like Vulconizer said, that's probably number one problem, set the locators correctly.

Also if you have external instruments, rewire or may be even midi parts... seems like -
Use the real time checkbox on the mixdown dialog box.

Does it sit there then time out?

Try doing your own mixdown, setup a track and have it's input set to your loopback from your card and just do a recording and see if that works. Usually there is something wrong somewhere or if your way on the edge of too much stuff going on and it's taking too long to get going and cubase times out.

I always save before exporting because cubase will disappear or crash during mixdown if it's overloaded.

OK, I know the manual for Cubase is massive, so trying to go through it all before you ever attempt to use it is a bit unrealistic, however there is a shorter "getting started guide" that should help get you set up fairly quickly - have you had a glance through that to see if maybe it might help any of your problems?
Just a thought...

Ahh yeah. I forgot the ubiquitous RTM (Read The Manual).

It does help. I still find useful info in it and have been messing with Cubase for a decent amount of time.

I learn something every once in a while, I have some tutorials I was looking at the other day and you can change the way you see the sends on a channel and unlink the pan so you can pan the send different than the channel. Pretty neat.

Those things are torture to sit through though.

Haha, sometimes they are.

I'll have to check into that though. Could prove very useful. Make the reverb go one way to distract her, whilst I sneak off the other to get more beer.

Oh I have read it back and fourth thousands of times. The manual only gives you about 8 pages or so of information before it gets to the French, or Spanish section. You tube gave me more info.

What does the error message say? Does it give any details?

No it just says that There was an error! That is were it stumps me. It leaves me hanging to wonder if its my O.S. or the program.

Here is another idea. I am using a yahmahha interface that cubase came with. I am just going to download another one and wipe out cubase. Would it be compatible?
