Default Easy question

Hello mates, i'm here just to ask you a silly question, but, first i have to tell you that i'm kind of new into home recording, i allready have four songs captures on tracks, but i was trying to export the tracks so i could listen to them on my ipod and think about the mix, but, when i tell cubase sx2 to make an audio mix down, none of the options of audio format (.wav .mp3 .wma) seems to give me the right quality of audio.

i recently read that the proyect bit should be at 32 bit floating (read it on a Steinberg mix dvd tutorial), is this right? does anybody know why this lost of fidelity happen? i appreciate any help on this, thank you very much...

regards,
Gnzlo

If I understand you clearly you're not happy with the quality of your rendered project in mp3/wav format. If so then when rendering to mp3, just under 'Files of type' click on the 'Attributes' drop down list. Make sure you select at least 128kbps 44.1Khz Stereo. Hope I got it right.

Oh yeah, and your original project before rendering should be at least 16 bit 44.1Khz.

Vulconizer just bestowed RecordingReview's greatest honor on you.

If you look up at your recent post you will see 3 reps. Before yesterday, before Vulconizer's magnanimous gesture, you only had two, a paltry two, yes two, countem' 2 REP's! (I don't know how you went out in public.)

Keep in mind also, that using the dither plug-in is crucial to avoiding distortion when you are mixing down to MP3 format. Open the VST Audio Channel Settings dialogue. Open the eight channel and set it to the Mastering/Dither plug-in. You'll need to set it to 16 output bits (for CD mp3). I've left dither level at hi. Make sure to use the insert in the eight channel/bucket in the VST Audio Channel settings dialog. In Cubase 4, the plug-in called UV22HR. I think the name may be a slight bit different in earlier versions, but it still follows the convention of starting with UV.
