 doing live sound-recording together
using mixdown classic 8 w AMD Athlom(tm) 2200+ 1.79 Ghz 480mb ram thur EMU 1820/w 12/12 soundcard. is this enough or do i need more

more than enough...your bottleneck won't be the CPU or ram but the transfer rate of the harddrive if it's external. Only USB 1.0 would get you in trouble. But this is so easy to test....why don't you just mock up a test recording using as many tracks as you plan on using for the live gig?
