Default Does anyone know if Omnisphere will work with Cubase sx3?

Hi, as the title really.

The specs for Omnisphere state that it requires host software to be version VST 2.4 compatible. Now I don't know how to find out what version SX3 uses, but I know thought it was only 2.3.

Any ideas?

Thankyou, that's a big relief.

What's your opinion on Omnisphere?

i think its very good sound wise but i will admit i was a bit disappointed at first as it doesn't live up to the hype it had, the choirs are very good, the synth is a bit brittle for what i do if you like dance type electro sounds you will love it but i find i always go back to ewql colossus to write and compose with, depends on what you do i guess, your best bet is look at the vids on spectrasonics website and see if you like them

Yeah, I've checked out all the vids, but they're mostly showing the new features really. To be honest, I want it for textures, soundscapes and pads mainly. I was blown away by Atmosphere, but never committed. Since it has all those sounds included, I should be happy enough....I hope.

hey man did you end up picking it up? it absolutely kills for soundscapes and pads. I talked to Eric Persing and he said they're going to be adding even more presets in the future. if you go to YouTube, there are a couple tours where some folks go thru the presets. I got it a month ago and it's the most fun and inspiring VSTi i have.

i posted a pad when i first got it here: Acoustic Song

Exactly! I have both Atmosphere and Omnisphere and they both work fine with Cubase SX3. For evolving, organic pads and textures, Omnisphere is the best I've heard. Much better in many respects than Atmosphere.

In some ways, Omnisphere is a one-trick-pony. It does spacey psychedelic pads fantastically, but not much else. If you're looking for versatility, look elsewhere. But if you're looking for great soundscape material, Omnisphere is without peer. It's a big-boy's toy!

I love Spectrasonics' plugins. I'd say Stylus RMX is the most useful plugin on the planet. Especially with some of the new upgrades, and 3rd party .RMX and .REX loop developers.

Hello again.

I did indeed commit and it doesn't disappoint. It also runs fine on SX3 as you all said it would. It also runs fine on my spec PC. Although I have run into a few CPU issues with more than 4 tracks at once (occasionally), but hey, I can always commit to audio anyway.

I've since invested in Trilogy (soon to be Trilion ) and I think I need RMX now!

I suppose the only thing I'm struggling with now is a basic standard sound module for basic GM type instruments etc. But that's a small issue. I really am blown away with Omini, and still just scratching it's surface.

Thanks for the link. Indispensable bit of software for composing isn't it?
