Unhappy direct monitoring in SX3...

Hello everyone...

I find myself having a peculiar problem in SX3... I want to record some bass and listen to it at the same time.

Normally I can do this by recording through my mixer and outputting the channel signal to the input of my soundcard, and then in SX3 selecting the appropriate audio channel, setting the input channel to the input receiving the bass and all is well... mainly because I am listening to the bass through the mixer and not through cubase.

However, I now find myself wanting to listen to the bass by routing it from the channel I wish to record it on routed back into my mixer through my sound card outputs.

The thing is, even though I have direct monitoring switched on it doesn't happen... I get silence. If I disable direct monitoring I can then hear the bass... but with latency... only 6ms, but it is there... I am not interested in using fx on it or anything (which i've noticed I can do if I want)... I just want to output the clean bass signal that is being sent to the soundcard.

I just don't understand why I am not hearing anything unless I turn the direct monitoring off.

soundcard used... MAudio 410... mixer yamaha 01V...

weird eh?

or is it?!?!

thanks for any help anyone can give in advance =]

Default Re: direct monitoring in SX3...

hummmm... i think the answer is kinda here >>> http://forum.recordingreview.com/arc...hp?t-1245.html

ultimately direct monitoring with a delta 4-10 can only be asigned with the hardware mixer if i want zero latency...

oh well... at least I now know... fanx =]
