Default cubase wont recognize M-Audio MidAir25 midi keyboard

I have a midair 25 but cannot get cubase LE to recognise it. By some miracle I got it to work once but I have no idea how I did it.
I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with the connection between the keyboard and the wireless receiver as the receiver attached to the
computer reacts appropriately when I press the keys. I have installed the m-audio driver which is shown to be working correctly in the driver
setup screen. In Midi Device manager Midair 25 is listed as a device.

When I open a new project I Add a Midi track and an instrument track and the default 'All midi inputs' shows on the inspector.

Midair does not appear among the devices listed in the midi port setup screen. I have a midi emulator Bome keyboard with which I can play through the computer keyboard into Cubase which uses Maple Midi In Ports 1-4 and this Bome keyboard works fine.

How can I get it to work again.

A USB device has to be plugged in and running before you start cubase, if you did that then look at the device menu then device setup and click on some of the midi things(I'm not in studio and can't remember exactly what) and see if it's available on your system.
I had to click those before to make them show up.
If they're not there then it's a driver problem, driver not working all the time or get the latest one, or plug it in a different slot...

Brilliant. I thought I had tried everything: plugging in the stuff before I switched the computer on, plugging it in afterwards; replugging it; reinstalling the drivers. I just missed that little trick of switching on Midair before Cubase.
Thanks, its a load off my mind
