Default Cubase SX3 keystrokes changing

My Cubase SX3 saga continues. I'm about halfway done with my askvideo tutorials (which I'll be writing a mixed review on when I finish them).

I've noticed that my keystrokes have changed somehow. For basic editing, pushing "1" selected the pointer, "3" selected the split tool, and "5" selects erase. Well, I did something and now 1, 3, and 5 don't seam to do anything.

Any ideas?

Brandon

It changes depending which is your front window.... if you are looking at the track view, all is well, if you open a midi or audio track and it's selected, it's different... it can get confusing until you get the hang of it....

Okay, I'll take another look at it. I could have swore the 1,3,5 shortcuts weren't working anywhere, but I could be totally wrong.

I tried with both I thought, but I know I was using the keypad some of the time. Is that bad?

I seem to recall that the keypad does not have the same commands as the keyboard numbers. Sorry, I'm not one for millions of keyboard shortcuts. I use a few (cut, copy, paste, record, play, back to zero...) and use the mouse for most other stuff. Habit from having a laptop which wasn't very friendly for keyboard shortcuts.

Okay, I'll check it out.

I agree that the main keystrokes are important, but it does seam to be overkill wotj Cubase. In fact, I think it's kind of stupid that they put so many shortcuts on there because when you want to assign your own shortcuts, they are often taken by something you would never used anyway.

I found myself constantly opening the drum editor. It took me 5 tries before I found a shortcut that was even available. I didn't want to change the default thing too much yet.

You can set up the shortcuts any way you want... if one you want is already used, but for something you don't need, change it.

Eventually, I will. I'm still learning the basics. I just want to watch a tutorial or read it in a guide just to find that I changed the damn shortcuts. Hopefully, in a few weeks, I'll be good to go and can then customize it exactly the way I want to.
