Red face Cubase SX3- headphone mix

hi there all,
I'm having a hard time setting up a headphone mix in sx3.
i'm running cubase sx3 on a digi 003. When I assign an mono output chanel in the audition bus it only comes out in one side of the headphones. a stereo mix requires 2 connections. what should i do?
thanks a million!!

Why do you have a mono output channel? Have you tried to assign a stereo output to that bus?

There are certainly enough hardware outputs:
Dedicated studio monitor output, plus alternate control room output
Dual headphone outputs with individual source and level control

I've never attempted to use the Audition bus for this purpose. I always just use the stereo bus. Let me know how it goes.

I agree with Electriclight. You are only going to get signal out of one side with a mono source.

Even on a stereo bus the signal is only assigned to one side.. right or left. So it still comes out of one side. I tried using an aux send to one of the outputs in a mono and a stereo bus and the outcome was the same. from the normal headphone out jack it sounds fine, but thta's the main mix. I need seperate mix for the perfomers. I f I plug the cans halfway into one of the outs it works, but that's kinda halfassed way of working...
I'm lost....

OK so new developments. I connected stereo bus out from t outs on the 003 into a headphone amp with stereo inputs. now I hear fine. But.... i only hear what has been recorded. I can't hear what i am recording live (even with the input monitoring activated or deactivated) anyone have any bright ideas.
please help me. I have a session tomorrow!
thanks.

Before you proceed further, I'd highly recommend you read up on the Audition bus. I don't think it does what you think it does.

Is there any reason you can't simply use the stereo out?

I'm no loner using the audition bus. just a stereo bus. and I need the ability to make different mixes for different musicians, tha's why I can't just use the default stereo out bus.
thanks for your help.

If the Digi 003 has "Dual headphone outputs with individual source and level control", shouldn't this be a simple matter to accomplish using the hardware?

I see. I'm not aware of a way for Cubase to do this. I use my Presonus Firestudio to fire up individual mixes when necessary.
