It is possible to mute a kick drum pattern and still have it trigger the side chain creating that trade mark daft punk sound. so all you hear is just 1 sound that is pulsating and yet there are 2 playing....you just cant hear the trigger.

any UAD COMPRESERS THAT WILL WORK OR DOES IT HALF TO BE A SIDE CHAIN COMPRESSER

It has to have a side chain input try the slim slider compressor just gurgle it

To this you just need to press the "pre-fader" button on the aux send from the kick drum to the child bus and then pull the volume fader for that kick drum all the way down.

I just watched a couple of videos on youtube about this including the link you just provided and its for Cubase SX 3.... I'm not sure if anyone here has actually noticed but Diesel81 said in his first post he is using Cubase SX2... Just saying cause someone in one of these tutorials said you have to do something different in Cubase SX2 and SX3...

Anyway, its a neat little technique.
