Okay, this is a common thing when dealing with hardware synths in a virtual world.

If you are recording your MIDI data into Cubase LE and then running it out to trigger sounds in your synth the solution is semi-time consuming but easy. You need to solo a MIDI track and run the audio out of your synth into the audio ins of your audio interface.

If you are using a sequencer built into your synth (if you have one) then there is no good way to do it because the tracks won't be in sync.

thanks for your response. i was hoping to transfer my sequenced tracks from the yamaha to cubase for storage and editing purposes. it seemed logical that i should be able to accomplish that task using the general midi format. are you saying that my perception is wrong or that cubase le is not capable of meeting my needs?

Are you talking about importing MIDI data into Cubase to manipuate it and then retrigger your synth or are you talking about manipulating the recorded audio output from your synths (in wav format) in Cubase?

once again let me try to explain. the m08 does not have the ability to store newly created sequences. i am trying to use a pc and cubase le to store my ideas in a format that allows me to retrieve and edit. the tracks must remain in sync and on separate tracks for it to work for me. i have so far been unable to accomplish this. either i am using the wrong software or i just don't know how to use it properly. thanks for trying to answer my question. can you get me on track?

I think the confusion stems from not specifying if we are dealing with MIDI or audio tracks here. I'm gonna assume you are dealing with MIDI tracks since you used the word "sequences".

I'm puzzled by this one because a quick search on Google states that the M08 does have a sequencer.

Cubase has a way of separating MIDI tracks by using filters. You can filter by channel. This should take your MIDI data and bust it up so that channel #1 is on one MIDI track and channel #2 is on a second MIDI track.

I don't remember exactly how to do it so I guess it's time to crack open the manual. I've done it once and it was very simple.

I've got a MO-6, and it stores sequences, but it is NOT intuitive, requires specific USB backup criteria, and is basically a pain in the ass. But, if you can get the 12-step (literally) push-button menu sequence down, yes, you should be able store those sequences to a format Cubase can recognize.
