Just for the hell of it, I installed Cubase LE (which came bundled with my Presonus Firestudio and I had never used) on my home computer. The biggest reason was to try out new plugins without installing them on my full blown rig as well as being able to refresh my memory as to the names of specific menus and such when helping on this forum.
No 2bus? Where do I find the stereo out bus in Cubase LE? In Cubase SX3, the stereo bus is there by default. I talk about the 2bus frequently here and it could be a huge problem for people on here if it's not obvious how to find the 2bus. Drum Editor? Is there no drum editor in Cubase LE? I guess it's not a huge deal, but it seems weird drawing lines instead of turning dots on or off. It feels less intuitive to me. Effects Tracks? Are there no effects tracks in Cubase LE? I acheived what I needed to with group tracks (which I guess can be substituted with effects tracks) but I was surprised to not find them on my first go .

The original LE had 4 inserts and 8 sends but the newer LE had about half of that. I told Lexicon that I upgraded to Vista and they sent me a version of LE4 for free. It was a HUGE upgrade in software. |

tracks and a tutorial I was reading said to open the drum editor. I spent a good hour searching everywhere for it in LE. Even tho it seems there are limited features, I'm not going to upgrade until I can get my head wrapped around what is there already. And I'm still confused with it alot!! |

Thanks for the info, dudes. This clears some things up. I'll have to think about how I word things a bit more.

The many versions of Cubase make it confusing. I've never heard of software that had multiple LE versions that were current. Add in Essentials, Studio and the regular Cubase 4 and there are at least 5 or 6 "current" supported versions.

Tho there is no support for LE. No updates, no knowledge base, etc. I guess
that is their way of saying-UPGRADE!. I refuse to until I can get my head fully wrapped around what I have. |

There is an Cubase LE Forum that can help with lots of problems that people encounter. Steinberg did offer updates and patches for problems with the original LE4. Plus, ask whatever OEM provided your LE if they can give you an updated LE4 (tell them you switched to Vista). LE4 is a quantum leap beyond LE and I got it free for the asking from Lexicon.
