Cubase LE Question, Can I still Mixdown?

I don't know anything about recording, but I have an audio interface with Cubase LE. I also have a question.

Cubase LE would only let me do a few audio mixdowns and now it says I need to buy the MP3 upgrader. Does anyone know how much this costs or where I can get it, and if it does anything else besides letting me do more mixdowns? also, does anyone know if I can get around the upgrade and just continue doing mixdowns somehow, like if some other program can do it? I may need some pretty detailed instruction.

Is it just mp3's it wont let you mix down to? I had this with some software a while back so I just exported projects as a wav file, you can always convert it to mp3 afterwards with another program. I'm pretty sure there are some ok free one's out there as well if you look for them.

Cubase LE only allows 30 (I think) MP3 mixdowns. You can mixdown to wav. files forever. This is really what you should be mixing down to anyway if you are putting music on CD's. (stereo interleaved, 16 bit) Once you have wav. files and you want to convert them to MP3 then you can use other software (free) to do that. For example, I can recommend Audacity. Open the wav. file in Audacity and then save it as an MP3. Peace, Dave

I downloaded an update patch from STEINBERG which gives unlimited MP3 conversions. It cost about £7 (very roughly $14) ... well worth it. I was also able to transfer the update to Cubase SE3 when I bought it.

I agree with you Dave, although it is nice to have the facility to create MP3 (at your own specified bit rate and frquency) within the same application
