Default Cubase and E-MU Patchmix driving me insane

Hi,

You've stumbled across a guy who's at his wits end.

All I'm trying to do is record live sound from the Internet onto a track on Cubase SX and attempting to route it using the "wonderful" E-MU Patchmix. I find Cubase routings confusing at the best of times and the E-MU Patchmix adds an additional layer of complexity that I haven't got to grips with yet.

Can anyone help please? The staff at E-MU seem to have gone out for Christmas and the New Year

Thanks,
David.

I love patchmix.

Describe your setup.

Basically you have to insert a send from a real sound source channel like an input from your card into cubase - ASIO 1-2 etc.
That routes the sound into cubase.
Then in cubase in device/VSTconnections you have to route that sound to a bus so you create and you can name it if you want and set it to where the sounds coming from.
Then in the project window you create an audio track and set its source to that bus you created.

You can also insert the send from the master section of patchmix to do a mix down of all your tracks.

Thanks for getting back. Basically I've been trying all types of setups. I'm not sure if it's me getting the patchmix connections wrong or if there's fundamental problem recording.

Interestingly, in the Control Panel - audio properties, my playback options are:

Monitor Out
Wave
SW Synth
CD Player

Whereas my only recording option just says "sum"

This might just be a red herring though. I just want to be able to record ANYTHING. This is quite dispiriting as I don't know where to start.

Cracked it!! I hadn't turned the volume up! I had turned up the main volume in the Patchmix but there was also an auxillary volume tucked away that I needed to crank up. My routings were fine.

I still think the Patchmix is confusing though!

Please don't hate me!
