Default Cubase Direct X - VST Wrappers

As many of you know, Cubase 4 dropped support of Direct X plugins. This is the major reason I'm still use Cubase SX3 (that and I don't see any other need to upgrade).

Anyway, here are a few wrappers. I haven't tried them, but let me know if they work.

EffectChainer - Chain VST and DirectX Effects (Effect Rack)

DX Rack series.

I love EffectChainer, but I've never tested a DX effect in it, I would imagine it works great. I mainly use it for storing amp sim presets (ie TubeScreamer > JCM900 > chorus). It's almost as good as Guitar Rig .

Brandon, what DX effects do you use that aren't released in VST? The only (free) one I know of is a decent pitch/time shifter that I can't remember the name of (I wish I was at home right now...)

I've got the Waves Platinum series (which I'm using less and less of these days) that are in DX. They may be in VST too, to be honest I can't remember if I had the option back when I installed them. I may be able to use them as VST.

Ok here goes I've got Guitar Rig 3 and always use it as a vst It Eats cpu power So what is the difference using it as a DX effect Does it sound better does it lessen cpu power ?
See I may have learnt somethings but I still want to know more. Man am I becoming a geek lmao

What I'm coming to the way around cpu probs is to convert everything Guitars through Git rig, samplers and any kind of VST instruments into audio files What this does is it makes you get the best sound for the part !

When I started I just used to plug in and play but now I concentrate on getting the best recorded un effected Signal of say my bass guitar before it hits any plugin/compressor etc
So I treat any vst instrument like it was a real instrument and I was recording someone else playing it. With the result being I have the audio file in front of me. Now I can edit it copy it and generally mess with it. After all if it were real drums you would have the audio recorded eh

A tip I just saw on you tube Put an Analogue saturation plugin across your main Bus at the beginning of your Mix because your sounds will react to that rather than at the end!

I'm gonna try this on my latest song So its back to resetting my mixer and putting all my tricks I've learnt to good use

1 comment I will leave you with. First try cutting eq not boosting it on tracks because the more you boost the more other tracks are going to fight for frequency space

Man there's so much stuff on you tube guys go check it out make things your favourite cos you can always go back and watch em again and again

Hey who use's the score editor in SX3 lol

MIght this explain the friggin problem I'm having? Any of my NI plugins (Kore Player, Guitar Rig) do not appear in the window when I select them as a VSTi. The window opens, but I can't see Kore Player or GR...actually, they are there--but very very dim and none of the options can be clicked...

DX Rack worked for me. I got Cubase 4 sometime ago and waves plugins decided not to cooperate. But now they are back to work full time. :-) Effectchainer is free only for Sonar.

Hey xturbox,

Thanks for the reply. I actually got a response from someone on Cubase.net that fixed the problem. I had to change the disply setting from thousands of colors to millions of colors. That fixed it.

Thanks again though!

Does anyone know if Cubase 5 has regained the DXI ability, or will that need a wrapper too?

So far I haven't heard of any plans for Cubase 5 to get DX. Anyone else?
