I've ben running SX3 for about 4 years now and being used to this program and being a Musician I find it very user friendly.
Would the upgrade to 4 or 4studio be of use to me (being an untrained novice on the subject) Would I benefit at all from this with Final Mastering, VSTi, sub editing et al??

I'm always hesitant to upgrade all the time. I hate fighting the computer when I should be recording with it and it always seems like when I tinker with upgrades and such I end up investing way more time into the not-fun stuff.

However, the new Cubase 5 will be out soon. Upgrading to that may be a good move.

I have a cubase LE4 and tascam 122L,can you help to communicate the software with tascam for a home recording,instruments that i use are a fender bass guitar and washburn electric acoustic guitar not forgetting my MRT-3B drum machine.,thanks.
