Default Cubase 4 & Firestudio

Whenever I turn on my Firestudio, my wireless USB keyboard and mouse start getting REALLY sluggish, almost unusable. Also I've noticed that sometimes I can't get audio to show up in Cubase from my Firestudio.

Did have USB card on mobo that I removed. Also mobo is Abit KN9 SLI with AMD x2 processor. Help? Thanks!

If you leave the Firestudio on and restart the computer do you still have the problem? I never turn my Firestudio off / on with the computer on, but I'm not sure that would be a source of any problem.

Make sure you aren't having a chipset problem.

You aren't by chance using a USB 2.0 / Firewire combo card are you?

Currently using Abit KN9 SLI mobo with AMD x2 CPU. Had USB and separate Firewire card. Took USB card out. Been reading alot that INtel chips are better suited. Going to try flashing BIOS. If that doesn't work, going for new mobo/CPU combo.

If you by Intel vs AMD being better suited CPU's for using with a DAW, from what I understand, look for the one that has better arithmetic/floating point capabilities, as this is the magic underneath the hood of high powered audio processing.

Replaced with Asus mobo and Intel Dual Core 3.0GHz plus a fresh load of Win XP. Seems to be much better.

Glad to hear it. One mystery that will remain is how much improvement is due to the CPU/MB and how much due to the fresh Windows install.

Actually I did wipe it clean with the old mobo and AMD processor and after the reload it still sucked. At this point, I was done f@#kin with it and I have a project coming up this Saturday so I just replaced them.
