Default Cubase 4

I just upgraded from SX3, and so far I hate it. First off it can't find my waves plugins. When I upgraded from SX2 to SX3 they were all there on my templates. Now 4 can't find or doesn't recognize them. Also when using the warp tool it takes forever to render. Plus I don't like the look. They are trying to look like ProTools...screw that. If I could figure out these few things I might like it better...

Wow, that sucks ! I was considering upgrading, but I'm so damn happy with SX3, I'm glad I didn't !

I plan to spend some time on the phone with their tech support to see what I'm doing wrong, or what the fuck they're thinking! Are they smokin' crack!
I must admit the EQ's are better, but why go backwards on some of the features?

I use Cubase 4 and had used SX3 for a short time before, so I had no problem making the transition.

I wouldn't go back to 3 now, unless I had no choice. There is so much more you can do with 4 as far as routing and flexibility.

Nothing wrong with sx3 at all, by the way. It's just that once I got used to using 4, I find it much more powerful. Many more options.

It took me a little bit to get the plug-ins worked out too, but once you do, you'll love it, I think.

Are they DX? If so, they are gone. This was the major reason I didn't upgrade to Cubase 4.

Really? Like what? I do quite a bit with routing but I can't think of anything I can't do in Cubase SX3.

My biggest gripe with Cubase SX3 is not being able to change insert order without unloading the plugin and reloading it in a different slot. Other than that, I haven't been able to think of a reason to upgrade.

Tell you what Brandon, in an effort to keep myself honest, I'm going to re-load SX3 on my puter at home and figure out exactly why I seem to think it's more flexible. Maybe I'll figure out it's not...

It will be a few days before I have an answer. Fair enough?

I don't want to make my personal opinion take on the air of a fact unless I am 100% sure. Glad you called me on it.

I'd be interested in the outcome of that Vulcanizer, but My first concern is why it won't see my waves plug-ins. Cubase tech support guy said " Yeah, waves is bad about that". Something about the "wrapper" or something. Told me to take it up with waves. another genuine pass the buck scenario. I also don't like how now we have to create an instrument track along with a midi track. That's just one more track to manage. That's a ProTools thing that made me opt away from ProTools a long time ago.

If you really want to spend you time on this, knock yourself out. My only point was I can do whatever I want in Cubase SX3. I never said that Cubase 4 didn't have more possibilities, I just can't even imagine what those possibilties would be.

In the end, I suspect the real issue is learning a given program and knowing how to squeeze all the functionality out of it. That always takes time.
