Do I understand you right that you've connected the stereo output of the mixer to the input of a standard soundcard (rather than a stand-alone audio interface)? No negative connotation, just want to understand what your setup is. Also, what ASIO driver are you using?

Dear jjb,
First Thank you very much for your reply.
I am sorry I have not explained it very well, The soudblaster is not a sound card, it is a device that my mum got me, it changes anologe into digital, it is used as a means of down loading old cassetts and old recods so they can be stored on a PC.
I have taken the stereo out of that and plugged that into the PC using USB cable.
Best wishes monkeymagic

I Googled "Creative Soundblaster Connect" and came up with the device shown in the attached picture. Is that what you have? If so, can you plug the output of your Yamaha (which model?) into the Mic input and get sound to your PC? What software are you using to capture the recording?

The device is as the picture you sent.
The yamaha I have is a MG124cx which I connected to the soundblaster device. I know the mixer is working as I have put the output into my dads domesic amp
I can not get a peep out of the computer

I got this info off the page that I attached previously:

Installation
Being a USB device, you simply need to install the drivers, plug it in to a USB socket and away you go. The Sound Blaster Connect takes its power from the USB connection so no external power pack is needed which is a major plus point. My system has Windows XP and an existing onboard sound card but it's a bit average. After installation both the original sound card and the new external one worked fine but I decided to disable the onboard sound via the BIOS to ensure the new one was used by all my software by default.

Hardware
The unit itself is small, light and comes with a bracket for easy attachment to a laptop screen. Despite its size it has a generous selection of socketry. There are left/right line in and out connectors (gold plated) as well optical (TOSLink) in and out on one side and a headphone output/microphone input on the other. Connecting a pair of headphones disables the output of the line out jacks which is convenient if you want a swap back and forth between the speakers and headphones. A small built in volume thumb wheel and an analogue/digital switch completes the external features. When data flows to the device, a small LED on the top flickers which is a useful guide to whether it is working or not.

In terms of performance, we’re talking 16bit/48Khz sampling which whilst not as good as it gets these days, is good enough for most people. It will certainly do the business if you want to record your vinyl collection or other analogue sources. The digital sockets means you can use it with a Minidisk player, Home AV amp and other external equipement that provide digital input/output capabilities.
Software...

So, it looks like your system can record to a file, but doesn't have what most of us normally use, Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software (like Cubase). Since you've recorded CDs, I'm at a loss to figure out why you can't record your keyboard...it should work.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Thankyou jjb.
I have been given two bits of info, from what I would call unrelyable,

1) Someone said in my home education group, not all these type of device's works with cubase. This would mean getting another but which one, I could end up with a number that will not work.

2) one of the fathers in the group commented, the driver for this device gives problems, he said I need a driver doctor which I can get off of the net.
I would realy like your thoughts on what I shoud do, I will not commit myself to buying anything on your say so, so you can make any comment in the knowledge that whatever I choose to do it is my mum that will decide as it is her money that will be buying what I need.
Neither of the people mentioned above have what I call good PC skills.

As I said I am 13 years old so I do not get the finances of a lot of others, my mum buys on needs not on wants, hope that makes sence.

The driverdoctor is a good idea. You can google "Free DAW software" and download one of those, rather than buying anything (like Cubase).
