Control song tempo in Nuendo

Hi guys,
I still get amazed how easy it is to make mistakes in Nuendo and never figure out the solution..
Perhaps anyone can help me with the problem of controlling the tempo in Nuendo.

I've always used "Fixed tempo" option in the play-panel in Cubase, but when I have finished working with my MIDI files in Nuendo, and tried to simply adjust the tempo, I couldn't.
The only way I could see that the tempo was changes was if I went to Track Tempo window, and steered the Recording tempo knob, which didn't make too much sense, as I could only control it whilst the track was playing, and controlling it this way was rather sporadic and difficult.

WHY can't I control this from PLAY-panel?
I thought I could use Cubase/Nuendo, at least at the amateur level, But seems that I was wrong!!!

So you can change the fixed tempo in the transport window? Click it and type it in.

Or if you want to have the tempo change during the song you draw it in the tempo track, right? You have to be using the tempo track, click the fixed tempo button in transport.

But your wanting to change the tempo in real time as your playing?

That's the only two ways I've changed tempo.

Yes, ideally I would like to change the tempo in the panel which controlls "Play", "stop" etc.. I seem to remember that it worked before.
Isn't it the case`?

Sure but the project has to be stopped, you just click on the tempo and type in a new tempo, and I think you can click the arrows and change it with a mouse only.

But only if it's a fixed tempo...seems like.
