Angry Click track playing back in recording

Hi ther guys, im a complete newbie!

I have Cubase SX3 and trying to record some bass. I have the click track turned on but in the play back of the recording the metronome is playing back also! This is fairly frustrating me as im sure there is a really simple reason for this i can't see.
The bass is plugged straight into the mixer so i can't see any chance of the click being picked up from the monitors.

Any help, anyone?????

Cheers

Do you turn the metronome off when you playback?

What interface or sound card are you using? How is Cubase connected to both the mixer and the speakers? Does playback go back through the mixer and to the speakers or is the mixer not connected to the speakers at all?

Hi richiebee,

Yep i turn the metronome off during playback after recording.
Sound card wise, it must be the on board one the pc came with.
Cubase is connected to the mixer via the usb cable supplied.
Playback comes via the mixer through the speakers which are rather 'bodged' through the headphones socket as i only have PC speakers for the moment.

Thanks

What mixer are you using? Becuase when i was using a yamaha mw10 i had that too but there was a button that had to st and to c-r that i pushed in and it eliminated it recording the click track with the insturment.

I have a Yamaha MG166cx-usb, if that helps the cause.
I have the st button in as the manual said.

Extra bit of info for you all, it seems like the click track is being recorded. The 'beeps' show up as recodring progresses. Is there any way to stop Cubase recording the click track?

Cheers

Yeah, sounds like you're sending the output of your computer to the mixer so that you can hear it through your speakers. Problem is, it's also going back to your computer when you record.

Am I right in thinking that this mixer has multiple outputs? If so, you need to separate what goes to your computer and what goes to the speakers.

R.
