Default Can't see Motif Patch list in device manager ! Help !

I installed the Yamaha Motif Patch list ( called= Motifscript.txt) into the "patchnames" folder in Cubase 4 LE, but i can't see it when i open the midi device manager!
I tried everything: run program as administrator, rename the file etc...
And nothing is working...
This is driving me crazy because i wanna be able to use my Yamaha Motif synth sounds with Cubase...
Any help, please?

It's been a LONG time since I've done anything like this. I wouldn't really know where to start when it comes to importanting the patch names.

I guess, I wouldn't start. I'd just do my thing without the luxury of any of the fancy patch names. They definitely aren't required. Just set the output of your MIDI track to the proper channel and switch patches on your Motif. Done.

I would love to, but the problem is that cubase doesn't let me choose anything other than the GM sounds in the motif..
and those sounds are nothing spectacular..
What i wanna do is be able to choose from the internal Motif Rack sounds, not the GM sounds...
That's the core of my whole problem....

oh, wait:
If i change through the MIDI channel outputs of the track, more available bank presets would be available to record in from the motif??

If you select the patches you want on the actual keyboard then when you get the one you want, record yourself selecting the patch (so record the midi patch change) then that track will select the voice you want next time you play it.

It's not working:
I recorded the patch i want(drum track) from the keyboard and i set the output to come out from the actual MOTIF itself. Data has been recorded, but when i play it back on the laptop using the built in laptop output(Microsoft GS wavetable synth output), it plays back as a piano track....!
that's what's driving me crazy..anything i record from the motif that IS NOT a GM sound, it sounds different when i play it back on cubase...
Help please...lol..

Would updating my Cubase version help?
I still have the Cubase LE 4.0.3 version....

No, this is only for controlling the voices on the mo.

The only way to get the sound of the motif on your laptop is to record the audio output of the keyboard and play that back on the laptop.

Because the piano is playing, that means the GS synth is working. GM sound set is 128voices. If that's what you want to use just use a gm patch in cubase and only use the motif as a midi input and GS as output, then it would transport to your laptop.

I think I'm confused. Could describe you setup and what you want to do?

Yes you got it right.
What i wanna do is be able to use the gorgeous INTERNAL sounds available in the MOTIF, and like you said, the only way to do it is by recording audio...
But i don't have "line in" support in my laptop, so i think i'm gonna invest in an external audio interface...
Any suggestions for brand names that are reasonably priced?
