In the device menu you have to add a mackie controller device, then set it to the midi port where your BCF is. That's it on the cubase side. Then you have to get the BCF into mackie mode, in the manual. Then you can create different mixer setup in different workspaces and the BCF will control it when you jump to it, or if you have a mixer and hide the wav tracks and show the group tracks it will control the groups etc. Works great. I just don't know if SX2 can do mackie emulation... There was a big change between SX2 and SX3.11, I've seen software that requires 3.11 minimum. If it doesn't do mackie emulation then you have a harder path. There is a Yahoo group: bc2000 : bc2000 (for the BCF2000 & BCR2000) That might help if you have to do it manually. |

Hi, I had the same problem and I got as far as switching the BCF to Mackie Controller mode - it all works pretty well but when I push the bcf faders up, although the faders in cubase move, the BCF faders snap back to the bottom 2-3 seconds later - although the cubase ones stay where they are. Presume I'm doing something stupid but I'm new to Cubase and control surfaces. Any ideas? |

Thanks, I'll try the different configs. I'm pretty sure I have the Mackie devise set (it shows on the BCF display) and I do have bcf set to in and out for that device Re cables - I'm using USB. I do have a pair of midi in/out cables that I could use - but they're attached to the PC via a USB adapter anyway - i don't know if that's normal for midi cables. Thanks again |

So you went into devices/device setup in cubase SX and added a new device, a mackie control. Then you click on that device. That device is what you set to the bcf usb in and bcf usb out. Then it's setup. Holding the second button on the bcf when you turn it on gets it into mackie mode, and thats done. Your faders aren't following your screen movements?

Yep - that's it exactly. Plus the although the screen faders do respond to the bfc ones, the bcf ones snap back after a second or two. A friend of mine suggested the problem might be that I'm working with a project that pre-dates installation of the bcf - and that I should try starting from scratch. Do you think that would help - I work away from home a lot so I can't try it until Thursday/Friday. |

A lot of things require cubase 3.1.1 minimum. I can open old projects and use BCF. I use different workspaces with different mixer configs using the 'can hide' parameter so when I jump to them the BCF changes according to what workspace your in.

Sorted. Updating the firmware did the trick - odd I thought, since the unit's bran new and the Mackie emulation was already there but ... Thanks again. |
