Ok guys .. I’ve been battling this for a while... I use cubase for full band recording with the Presonus Firestudio.

Is there are any easier way to add a bit of delay at the end of vocals line to carry the note? I have songs where i want to add a touch of delay or a touch of reverb to a specific part in a guitar or vocal line and right now i just copy the track and duplicate just that part and add the effect to that one.

Is there an easier way to not use so many tracks? I know nothing about automation.. is that what i would do and is there an easy explanation of automation .. I can seem to grasp the understanding of it in the manual for Cubase.

Any help would be awesome... It would make my life a lot easier.. haha.

I'd highly recommend you start using aux sends (which are called FX sends in Cubase). Read up on it in the manual.

Then, read the section on automation. This will solve all of our problems. Let us know if you have any problems.

That's what I did on a track where I wanted the echo to just be on the last word of the line - it was a big pain in the ass to do that as I had to delete all but just that last word for every line in the verses. I tried turning the delay on and off manually, but I either came in too late or it started picking up the front of the next line before all of the echos that I wanted faded out. I guess it was still easier than trying to figure out how to automate it.
