HI Can anyone tell me the following. Heres the thing...when I used to use logic...if there were two audio tracks that I wanted to merge into one, I would just select the glue tool, select both tracks and click on one of them and they would then be bounced, ( or merged, or glued) into one track. IS there a quick and simple way of doing this on SX 3 apart from File/Audio bounce down ?? many thanks |

Hey richiebee your advice doesnt work!! :-)) Using that method only "merges" or "renders"or "glues" parts that are on the same track. What I want is to "merge" or "render"or "glue" two different tracks into one new track. I know all about Export Audio but its a a bit of a long way round. One could do this very quickly on Logic. IS it possible that you cannot do this on SX3 ?? cheers |

Sorry dude... I didn't realize you meant mixing. I don't know whether Cubase can do what you want here. I can't think of a reason to need to do it. I'm not sure why Export Selected tracks is so long winded. You could always set up a short cut key, but I'm guessing this won't be the way you want to do it because it'll create an extra file rather than replacing what's there. Dunno. R. |

I too am not sure of the value of this feature. Unless the track count is way too high for the computer and you are bouncing stuff to ease the PC load, I'm not sure what is to be gained from it. Sometimes there are way too many tracks on screen and I'll put them into folders to organize them. The use of folders and busses seams to eliminate the need for merging two files. If there ever is a strong need to merge two files, no big deal. Just render them together as Richiebee suggested. Am I looking at this wrong? Brandon |

HI again yes you are both right...there is NO urgent need for bouncing tracks like this. My PC certainly handles all my tracks no problem. In the old days of Logic ( for me anyway) there was a need to conserve CPU ...but the reason this came up now, was I was just putting down some quick guide harmonies, and I always double up on every vocal line, so it was purely a case of trying to neaten up the page and not having tooo many tracks staring at me. I appreciate the feedback though cheers |

I must admit that keeping everything simple onscreen can get a little tough with Cubase. Most of this is probably caused by the fast nature in which I work sometimes and me not taking enough time to make everything nice and tidy. However, when I start mixing I save the song as a different filename, and take an hour to 100% organize the entire song with colors, groups, folders, etc. I find that during mixing this allows me to focus on the creative side of mixing and not fiddle with the file management. Good idea re organising everything like that. I try to do this as I go along, but as you say, when the inspiration occurs you dont want to be worrying about the colour of the track and if all the guitars are next to each other.!! So what about Cubase 4 ?? A major step forward or not?? |
