Default Audio recording problems....What am i doing wrong

Hi

I wonder if u can help me. I have recently installed Cubase SX3 onto my pc and have been using the 'Mic In' as the audio input. when i try recording more than one track, for some reason it ends up recording both the mic in signal and the other tracks playing back. Its a bit fustrating as i cant think what im doing wrong and i know its gonna be something simple.
Thanks in advance

Calum

What is your audio interface? It sounds like you are using your computer sound card? If so, is it full duplex capable?

If you're in XP, go into control panel, sounds and audio, device volume/ advanced, which will bring up the volume control.
Select options, properties, then select recording, and make sure 'stereo mix' and 'microphone' is checked and click okay.

Then in the recording control, make sure that Microphone and NOT stereo mix is selected.

That should do it.

I agree with ElectricLight here. I don't think you have a full duplex audio interface. I recommdend that you check out the home recording soundcard wizard immediately.
