I had "lanes" sort of when I used stacked mode, but then I couldn't figure out how to switch to listen to or edit a different take, so I didn't try it again.

| I think you are on the right path. I changed the record mode to stacked and I could see each take stacking up. I didn't like how I didn't seem to be able to get into the stack. I think the manual covers it?

I think there's some confusion between the feature set of SX and LE. Take a look at the feature comparison chart here: ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/Cub...Comparison.pdf You'll see that "stacked record mode" is not available in LE. The LE manual does mention lanes but it seems to be a feature in the audio wave edit window not the same sort of lanes that SX offers in the project window.

Thanks, that explains why I wasn't familiar with "stacked" recording. But both LE and LE4 manuals mention "lanes" in the Part Editor window. There was a lane button on the First LE4 and I think it worked, but that first version of LE4 would freeze up every time you tried to edit anything, so it wasn't long before it was replaced with a new version. The Lane button disappeared but the documentation never mentioned the Lane Button anyway. It simply says to open the Part Editor??? |

I am using Cubase LE and here's how I use lanes: - record several takes in cycle mode - select these takes with the object selection tool in the main window. Place the cursor just outside the audio clip before you draw the square with the object selection tool; the square only needs to touch all takes you want to bring into lanes - select Audio --> Events to Part - double click on the selected takes. This should open an audio part editor with the takes in separate lanes. There are some great Cubase and Nuendo tutorials on youtube. I think that's where I saw how to open these lanes. |

Hi, I really appreciate your response. It's good to know that someone, somewhere can make this feature work. I immediately opened a project where I had recorded in cycle mode. (Recording continues between the markers - each is named like take 1 (audio 16_4) correct?) I sliced it into a manageable section and tried to select as you described. Events To Part stays grayed out. So I tried to select the entire recorded section but Events to Part on the Audio menu is still grayed out. I tried to drag a couple to a new track, thinking maybe there was a limit to the number of tracks but still it would not allow me to use the Event To Part function. I remember on previous attempts months ago I could a least do the Events to Part and open the Part Editor - now even that seems impossible. I'll look for those tutorials. Let me know if I've misunderstood any of your directions. And thanks again, Dave Last edited by Electriclight; 07-28-2008 at 11:54 PM. Reason: typos |

Dave, I am running Cubase 1.0.10 build 110 on Windows XP 5.1 SP 2. Build 110 is the update I downloaded from www.steinberg.net so that I could record 8 channels at at time instead of just 4. If you go to www.steinberg.net; support, downloads, Cubase LE1, you will see a link to download 1.0.10 build 110. There is also a Cubase LE4 which appears to be something different. If you're running that maybe there's an update for that, too. Some of the youtube tutorials I looked at show the lanes right in the project window which is different from how my software behaves. Good luck! John |
