Default Any tips/tricks/shortcuts for Cubase SX?

Hi

I'm having all sorts of 'issues' with this - just started last week and have not had any experience of this kind of thing at all before.

Well I say 'issues' but it's me really - a lot of feeling my way around, clicking here and there and seeing what happens as the manual seems to be of very little help. Basically, it's a handfull of eureka moments heavily weighed down by loads of 'WTF?!' moments.

The absolute basics are out of the way in that I can record audio/Midi and programme drums but very little else.

So as per the title can anyone muster the time and energy to post up some general advice?

I say general as every day there seems to be a new 'thing' for me to work out. E.g. the latest is that when I apply plug-in effects to an audio track they are applied to all tracks?!

I realise there will be a steep enough learning curve with this but if anyone can advise on any classic errors or pitfalls it would be great. I'm talking about things like "when trying to do X make sure that..." or "NB, if you want to do X you must enable/disable..."

Thanks

Tons out there, search on utube.

Better, go here:
Home: Sound On Sound music recording technology magazine

search for cubase notes and go back to when SX was in use.

Lots of good articles.

It's really NOT a steep learning curve - but EXPERIMENT - the fun part is learning and discovering

If your coming from another DAW it can go pretty quick but if your starting from complete scratch your learning a lot all at once. Definitely gives you a feeling of accomplishment when you get it working.
But there's a lot more to it.
I still find out things I didn't know and different ways to improve work flow after a lot of years working with this and several other sequencers.
