Default Alesis Multimix 8 HELP!

I'm not new to cubase LE or the alesis multimix, but shit just WENT DOWN! I had a virus so i rebooted my system clean, then went throught the reinstalling everything and grabbing files and whatnot, everything was running great and all. Then i went to test the mixer to record some drums for a sec, and there's this whitenoise i can't see in waveform on the program, but i can still here it on the playback. It doesn't play back whitenoise with regular sound files on my computer, just stuff i recorded on the alesis. It also does the whitenoise crap on audacity. It makes no sense to me, I used it fine and easy before i rebooted my system. What's causeing the noise that i can't see! (btw it still makes the noise if you export the file from the software) ;-; working on it for 12 hours and nothing ;-;

Is the noise constant or random?

Home Recording Computers: Clicks, Pops, and Latency

What's your CPU meter in Cubase saying while you record?

Can you post a short clip to illustrate the problem?

ahh! Thanks for a reply, I've been dying over here! It's very constant white noise kind of tone, you should be able to hear it, from the attachment below, or wherever it pops up O.o. I can't even get cubase to pick up sounds anymore, probably because I've screwed it way up trying to fix it. This recording was through audacity, same problem both places. At one point I thought i had fixed it, more or less. I flipped some switches on cubase, got annoyed and tried audacity and it seemed to go away (wierd) then I went back to cubase, and there it was again. I figure it's something wrong with the mixer or something, except it worked the day before hasn't moved, only difference is I've wiped my comp clean and started new again. AGAIN, thanks for responding!

That hiss just sounds like a cheap preamp that is working too hard. There shouldn't be any reason why software would directly cause that. If you were to take the headphone out of your mixer, you should hear it there too.

I didn't hear any pops in that clip.
