Default Advanced Linking Of Tracks?

I'm reading through the manual looking for a way to handle advanced "linking" of tracks in Cubase. A part of me says that they must have thought of this but I'm having difficulty finding the right keywords to search for in the manual.

For example, let's assume I'm recording a drum kit we want to play re-record verse #2. Let's assume I have 12 mics on the drums. I don't want to have to go in and cross fade each of the 12 tracks. I'd like to go in and edit just a single track and have my changes reflect on the other 11 tracks. Does this make sense?

Another example: I often only use one mic when dealing with electric guitars simply because it's annoying having to deal with two or more tracks in the heat of battle. If I didn't have to bother with individually adjust crossfade times and such, it would be way more covenient for me to record multiple sources.

The manual says you can select multiple audio events on separate tracks with the Range Selection tool, and apply the fade to all of them simultaneously. So I guess for 12 tracks it would be easier if you stacked them adjoining each other and made them skinny so they are all visible on one screen. Page 181

Otherwise, if you want to cut, paste, and move tracks together as one you can put them in a group folder and edit the folder. Page 159

Or maybe I don't exactly understand the situation.

Let me explain it a little better.

I was hoping there would be a way that I could record 12 tracks of drums with overdubs, edits, etc in a way where all changes made to one single track effected all 12 tracks. This is very similar to the folder track idea. (Very similar!) but the folder track doesn't do edits to my knowledge. So for example, let's just say we need to hit the 2nd verse again on the drums. I hit play on the first chorus and about when the drummer is jumps in, I hit the record button. When the drummer finished that 2nd verse, I hit stop. At this point, I've had to go in and do all crossfades and changes in terms of when to switch over to the 2nd take verse the first take. This it appears I have to do one track at a time. I don't remember being able to do crossfades with folder tracks. I may need to look into folder tracks a little further to make sure.

You're not using punch in? Well, anyway, regardless of whether you are or not, if you have all the drum parts selected on the project window, when you hit X to crossfade, it will crossfade all the parts that are selected. If you want to edit the crossfade, it edits all those selected.

I do quite often, but in almost every case there is something weird about the way the track was played and I ended up moving the "transistion" from take to the next. I've gotten so used to using lanes when comping vocals that I've gotten where I use that often for other things. It's very common for guitar and bass.

Sure. However, the problem arises when I start getting fancy by slighting moving a kick drum or something like that. It's easy to unselect the tracks when I make a cut or move something.

Maybe it's time to watch my Cubase DVDs again. There may be a crucial part of workflow that I'm missing.
