How is a phase problem like that even an issue nowadays? Line it up in your DAW...
I think when you mic a cab from two feet out you get the sound of the cabinet itself...it's bloom and standing waves etc. You also get the influence of the room on the bass freqs.

Why not? This technique gives you the room sound.
Sure, it's only as good as the sound of the room itself. That's why when you jam a mic into a speaker cone it really doesn't make a difference how good or bad the room is.
