I would highly suggest Diing in to your interfaces preamp and then running the amp modelling plugin, amplitube. This is available in vst or au form so you can use it with cubase, logic, whatever. Its an amazing bit of modelling software and it can emulate pretty much any of the marshall stacks for guitars and bass. Try it out, you can get it from http://www.amplitube.com/

Is it any better than Native Instrument's Guitar Rig? I have it. It came with Komplete 3. It's useless for guitar in music where real guitars are important. You could probaby find a way to use it in a Madonna song or something, I guess.

well, personally i'm a drummer, not a guitarist or indeed a bassist so I cant give the ultimate lowdown. But when band mates have been over for a jam and I showed them it they have been incredibly impressed. It may not beat a real amp if you spend a lot of time getting the perfect recording tone and mic positioning, etc... but the practicality of being able to just plug in and play/record, at a low volume (ie work on tracks at night quietly) its great. The bass tone is just unreal through it, my friend has a fairly high end warwick bass and it was brilliant through that. Guitar was also impressive and thats just using the stock presets.
