Default why is protools so diffucult to use with midi?

I was wondering why doesn't protools work well with external hardware. I been recording on protools for a year and a half . Recently I started to experiment with midi recording and all I have to say is protools is to user friendly. I have a midisport 4x4 connected to the midi ins of my motif 6 and my roland 3080 but protools keeps freezing when I try to record and I have to restart my computer to get it to work again. When I record using midi in cubase ,everything works fine. So I know I have it connected right. Is it because I'm on a Pc? I have a athlon 64x +4200 with 2g of ram with a with 2 80g 7200 maxtor hard drive, 1 for the program 1 for recording. I consider myself to be midi knowledgeable but protools is showing me otherwise. Is there anyone out there that knows how to get this to work please get back.

I've had nothing but bad experiences when using Pro Tools on a PC. Shit crashes constantly.

We run LE on a PC and it's very reliable. We don't use it for MIDI though. Not sure why anyone would. It's wayyyy behind.

I actually prefer Pro Tools MIDI to Logic or Cubase. What is so behind about it?

protools is a very good program if you can get it to work properly. I personally am trying to learn every recording software out there so I can b a well rounded producer. Why learn just one? I already mastered cubase and it took 3 months.Protools is a different story, it not user friendly and that's what sucks about it. Recording mixing and mastering I can do with ease I'm just stuck with this midi situation. Once I figure this out I'll b deal with logic. So thanks for your opinion but if your trying to make it in the business I suggest you learn as much as you can. That's what make the difference between good and great.

I have never seen a pro studio using anything other than Protools and a couple of 2" 24 track tape machines.Yes it is important to know all you can about as much as you can. Protools is still the industry standard and probably will be for some time. All the others are for the home recording enthusist not the pro market.I chose protools for the fact that I know this is the standard not the easy way out.Sterling Sound Studios

It's editing capabilities.

If you don't know what's bad about it when comparing to either Logic or Cubase, then I guess you don't do much MIDI editing.

Please, elaborate. What can I do in Logic or Cubase that I can't do in Pro Tools, right in the edit window no less?

Yes...I have a korg triton I use for midi stuff in Protools I have the 003 controler and I plug into the midi input on that and use it for the hybrid synth,ez drummer,Strike.I am running on a mac pro. I never had a problem with it with these programs, but when I try to use akoustic piano it freezes it up sometimes and I have to re open the session.I think its the buffer size issue.I am new to protools and have alot to learn.Editing is what I'm into now.I am not that deep into midi stuff yet, just a little.I record more live bands and singer/sonwriters.Sterling Sound Studios
