Default Re: What Sampler Are You Using And Why?

Anyone know of any other multi timbral player that is like Hypersonic 2 and still being supported by the company it was manufactured by?
I still use GM Midi to some degree and love the fact that Hypersonic loads so damn fast for my uses. I also feel that big companys are moving away from these types of VST instruments and I thing that is missing the point for those of us who are using these vsts live.

I'm using a combination of Battery 3 along with an MPD24, which I love for the sheer volume of editing options, and a Korg ESX, which is great for tweaking drums and effects in realtime.
The Battery library's excessive in my opinion, but there's something there for pretty much every genre, though the jazz type kits all sound a bit weak.

NI Kontakt and NNXT , Rapture is also a good sampler , I recommend Kontakt 3 for any instruments but drums and Battery for the drums but if you are into Reason , it's NNXT might be the right choice , do not wast your money on buying hardware samplers .

I'm using Structure LE, but I'm looking for something else for making custom drum sample sets. Of course I don't want to spend any $$.

@Loopmasters - it REALLY depends what you want from it as to whether to use a hardware sampler mate - for example I love being able to screw with the sound in real time as i'm recording it to an audio track - some of the things that have come out that way would have taken AGES to program in on a DAW with automation; yeah you can do it, and if you've got a control surface its that bit easier, but for me its just not the same.
Plus there's the whole live thing - if you're taking it on the road, a hardware sampler is far less likely to crash than a laptop.

I would certainly reccommend NI battery 3. Complete control over your samples and each cell is assignable...you can even stack multiple sounds onto 1 cell so they can be triggered together or layered which is nice when building kicks and snares. Its able to handle one shot samples aswell as loops and has built in effects to apply them to individual cells.

I'm a Kontakt (v3) guy for the "general sampler" stuff (strings, etc.) but then veer to samplers with a dedicated UI for drum and piano stuff.

I'm using Dimension Pro as my main go-to-er. It's got a nice batch of instruments out of the box, and is expandable with different expansive packs and such.
