Default VST: Bells & Violin/Cello Recommendations Please

First post here so forgive me if i've stuffed up.

Pulled out the old violin i used to practice with when i was a kid with the intention of recording three notes for an Industrial song. Yeah. Am feeling most stupid atm Can anyone suggest a VST with a half decent violin / viola / cello sound?

And whilst i'm here, am always in need of bell sounds. Particularly church bells. Sick of recording them off my hunk of garbage keyboard. Any good VSTs for that would be much appreciated. Cheers.

No replies yet. Will add the following point then. Not after a sound that's exactly like a violin. Just something that's got that same kind of feel to it. Like pathetic but sombre. Annoying but moody. Bit of natural distortion and something that will pull away from all the harsh, bassy drums sounds and overly processed symphany parts. Hope that makes sense.

And as for bells, yeah, anything. Using cymbols and high hats is so predictable. Bells can have the same percussive elements but A: they sound different, and B: they can have pitch and therefore add extra harmony.

Suggest any VST. Worst i could do is not use it.

Cheers

You might try the halls of Congress !!

I don't really have any VSTi for acoustic instruments. I use sample banks. You might try "Stringer" for some synth strings. sorry, just wanted you to feel un-ignored : )

I've been thinking Korg the last few days, myself. The stinger is more background string section - rather than a sad fiddle.

I think that the garritan goffriller cello and the solo violin sound amazingly good. I think they are discontinuted for the moment but they are coming out with a solo string package that should have bass, cello, violin and viola. If it's anything like the previous sample libraries, I'm going to jump all over it.

Here's a song I did with the older sample libraries. It's just cello and violin, but should give you an idea of what they sound like.
