Default Violin Samples Timing Issue

See attached mp3.

I'm having issues with the violins not playing in time. I think a lot of this has to do with the samples being recorded at a certain bpm or something. I know almost nothing about orchestra stuff. After playing around trying to adjust the timing manually (moving each midi note by hand), I still couldn't it right. The violin just sounds "clumsy".

What's the solution?

Brandon

It sounds like latency. If I was actually playing these notes and the sample was doing this, it would drive me nuts.

Yes, BPM could be a problem, if the sample is an actual melody.. and the BPM don't match up, that will happen. Depending on the software program you're using, you may be able to non-destructively 'stretch' the sample to match the current BPM of the song you're using it in (hopefully including 'no pitch change' type parameter).

Nope. Not latency. My rig is tip top.

It's the swelling nature of the violins. Unfortunately, I'm not overly familiar with the idiosyncracies of the instrument.

This violin is part of the package included with Kontakt 2. I'm thinking that I selected a version of the violin that is meant for swells or something. There is probably some latin word for "fast" violin playing that I should have looked for.

I would try to find a different Violin sound to work with. It sounds to me like this kind of violin has a "**** up" time before each note. If you have ever played a real organ (or just know about them) sometimes, the reaction time between when you play the key and the sound is produced is a fraction of a second delayed. That's not how this real violin was played, but it is how the the MIDI player appears to be interpreting the MIDI. There should be some violin that can play the notes faster.
