Default Using the drum editor in Cubase

I've loaded MIDI Song files into Cubase VST 5.1/32 - Roland Virtual Sound Canvas is tiggering the sounds apart from the drums.

I'm using Groove Agent as a VSTi to sound the drums.

However, the kick drum sound can't be heard when I use Groove Agent - I've gone into the drum editor and can see the drum hits as Acoustic Bass Drum B0 (?)- they should be on Bass Drum 1 - C1.

When I use Sound Canvas to sound the drums the kick drum IS audible and can also be located in the drum editor as Acoustic Bass Drum on B0.

When I use my MIDI keyboard to trigger Groove Agent the Bass Drum 1 is where it should be on C1 of the keyboard.

How do I get my bass drum to be heard when using Groove Agent when the MIDI files are playing - this occurs in every song file. I know I can copy the parts from B0 to C1 in the Editor but it takes time!

And if the kick drum sound can be heard when using Sound Canvas as Acoustic Drum B0 why can't it be heard when using Groove Agent?

Groove agent probably isn't completely GM compatible (which is what you need to get your kicks on B0 to sound. I would change the drum track to a regular MIDI track (actually you might not even have to do that), go into the Key Editor and it will be easy to draw a lasso around all the B0's. Then you can hit the up arrow key and they'll all become C1's.

Alternatively you could learn how the logical editor works and use that. But that requires a little more brain power than the other way.

You are using the Key Editor and not the Drum Editor? It is more predictable when you do it in the key editor.

And you can always send them to your GM device, but it's best to figure the Groove thing. Everything on channel 10 ? You may be broadcasting all with the keyboard, but the MIDI playback is Channel 10 ??

Probably not, but I wanted to make sure you knew of that.

The arrow key is on your keyboard. That's your computer keyboard.

Yeah, the drums are on C10.

Tried the arrow on my PC keyboard but it doesn't work - we're talking about the cluster of arrows, yeah? The four that go up, down, to the left and to the right? Or we talking about another up arrow on my keyboard?

could you maybe highlight all the B0 hits (you can just right click on one, then from the menu choose "select" -> "equal pitch, same octave"), then just use the mouse to drag them up or down in pitch.
Failing the click and drag option, you can also choose (right click again, after highlighting) "transpose" - this will bring up a window where you can decide how many semitones up or down to transpose all the notes that are highlighted. In your case, to get from B0 to C1, you just transpose the notes up 1 semitone (+1 in the window).
Hope this helps...

Never thought of that! Have used the transpose feature for musical notes but never for drums...Thanks Tony!
