Default Sound Samples --- Where Exactly Did These Originally Come From?

When Nick Phoenix and Doug Rogers made Quantum Leap Colossus and Quantum Leap Goliath, I was wondering, how did they obtain the Sound Effects (121-128 on the GM Bank)? Were they taken from something generic? A sample library? A keyboard? I'd sure like to find out, since I like them a lot. Here's an audio demonstration of the sounds I'm talking about. I recorded this little file in Sonar, with one sample of each sound.

Maybe they recorded them themselves. They are in the sampling business, after all.

It seems the "Seashore" sample sounds rather familiar, since I've heard it on a lot of songs. That's why I was wondering if they originally came from a sound library of some sort.

I didn't check the clip, but sound effects are pretty common in extended banks. In my collections, dj/hop banks have a lot use user samples. The standard GM does use the gunshot and helicopter, etc.. I don't think everyone samples the gunshot, but might use one in public domain or a synth sound.

If you can get it in audio format, you can make a sample.

If they didn't create them themselves, they would have licensed them. In that case they would have acknowledged who they were licenced from in the documentation for Goliath.

They've sampled all sorts of things, I would think they sampled the sound effects from real life too.
