Default Sonar 6 PE crashes when recording multiple midi tracks

Greetings all, First time post. I am having trouble with recording midi sequences from a Motif ES8 to Sonar 6 PE. I am recording 12 tracks at once (midi only) to the computer. It records fine up until it freezes and displays the "Sonar has encountered an unknown problem and must shutdown" message. Intel processor 486. 2 Gig ram, Fireface 800 interface, USB Midisport 4x4 with the latest possible drivers installed. One other thing, it does not fail at the same place every time. Any help would be appreciated, I really want to get this project competed. Keith

Never being there but...
are you shure you are routing every track separately?

track one recording only "Motif ES8 midi ch 1" and not "Motif ES8 midi omni" track two recording only "Motif ES8 midi channel 2" and so on.

Hope this helps.

Erm... is this correct? Im not sure how you're using 2Gigs of RAM and USB devices on a motherboard supporting a 486.
What operating system are you running?

AP1325 thanks for responding, yes they are all going to their own individual channels, Fortyseven, my bad, long frustrating night, the processor is a P4 3 gHz, in an intel perl MB. running XP SP2. Audio records fine I have recorded up to 10 tracks of audio 24bit 48K with no problems, As you all can tell I am new to MIDI I have been recording since the 70's (old) but this old dog is trying to learn new tricks. thanks for any and all help

I want to point out something that happens to me when recording midi with sonar using a virtual synth.
If I do not use some compression on the audio track of the virtual synth the recording stops unexpectedly.
This may happen if the output goes over 0.0db wich is considered clipping. I think Sonar stops when clipping is detected. That may be happening when you record.
I might be wrong... Just experiment with that.

AP1325, thanks, I will look into that, I'll let you know if it works. Keith
