I've got a client who is doing one of those contests where they sing like American Idol or something. They want to do Crazy (Patsy cline type arrangement).
#1 I'm an idiot about real music stuff. We have a version in the Key of C. We went up 2 half steps. In my brain hat means the song is in the Key of D. Is that correct? #2 Any ideas on where to find sheet music for this song in the key of D.

Let me explain the situation better. I wrote that on a laptop in the middle of the session. I rushed it.
The kid is pretty damn good. If he makes it far enough in the competition, he'll be playing with a house band. The house band must have the sheet music ahead of time. The key of C is too low for him and D is much better. So the real issue is making sure the band knows how to play the song correctly in the correct key. I figured there were programs that could handle this sort of thing, but I didn't know how easy it was to access specific tunes. Hell, for all I know there may be midi files or something that could be transposed in Cubase and exported in sheet music form. Brandon

So the house band needs to be given an arrangement? If that's the case, a lead sheet in D isn't going to help you. If the band arranges the chart, it doesn't matter what key you give them it in... you just need to make sure they know the finished thing needs to be in D. They will be able to transpose.
Here is a MIDI file if you want it. No idea what key its in, but whatever it is, you can transpose it into whatever you want using Cubase and print out the part, if that's what you really want to do. |

Awesome. That's all I need to know! Thanks a ton, Richiebee.
