Question Setup questions, drum machine, etc...

hello everybody. this is my first post. i am not new to creating music. i am not new to recording. i am however new to midi. still trying to wrap my head around it, i think i have a good amount of knowledge so far though. what i want to do to start off with is i want to learn how to program/sequence external drum machines thru my pc. i have a korg ddd 1, and it's a pretty kewl machine. i don't like sequencing it on the machine however, and want to do that on fruity loops. i've been using fruity since the very first fruity 1.0, like 10 years ago.

is this possible with just a midi to usb interface? i want to eventually get a keyboard too, just dont have the $$$. should i get a multiport midi? basic setup really....

I can't remember does the korg have midi in and out, or just out?

Should be possible. You want to send midi from the computer to the drum module?

Just hook it up and set the output to the midi port and see if it works.

It may pay-off to plan ahead with your MIDI ports, but two devices isn't much of a burden. I'm a budget guy and I have here a joystick port adapter and a Turtle Beach USB - both have DIN in and out connectors for the MIDI end. I also have a cheap Tascam USB sound card with both DIN MIDI jacks. They all work the same as far as I can tell. My two keyboards have a THRU port so I can pass channels.

Get a interface (cord) and get crackin' : ) I can't find mention on the web that it actually has MIDI 1/0, but it should from that era.

Looks nice. You also need to plan USB usage : )

It doesn't look to come with a USB cable and you will need the DIN MIDI cables. I got three on my last purchase.

The MidiSport2x2 did get some better review on this site.

Cheaper is the CME USB/MIDI cable;
