I've got an older Yamaha SU10 sampler. I really like it for a lot of reasons, but its achilles heel is the way you have to load samples into it... You've got to hit "record" on the sampler, hit "play" on the computer, then hit "stop," then you've got to edit out any sort of extra space that may have been recorded as well... Since I can use SysEx to dump the samples in the machine, it would make sense that I could use it to load samples *into* it, no? Does anyone know of a tool for doing so? I'm generally in OSX, but I can fire up Windows or Linux if I need to. |

There are some brands that do OS updates using midi. And sysex is whatever they want to make up, unique to that product, so theoretically possible, not to load the samples through sysex but to command the device to load the default sample set or whatever through sysex, but I've never seen it done.
