Default Newbie Question

First of all forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I recntly bought a M-audio Ozone workstation, to replace a simple but adequate Behringer UCA-22 A/D usb thing. The original intention was to plug in Clavinova Piano into the back.
You can image my disappointment when I found out it has no midi input, just 2 outputs .
Were was I, oh yes, went routing in my junk box and found a Roland A-880 Midi mixer. Is there anyway I can utilize this.

Answering my
own question NO. Of course the ozone is a sound card as well and the midi info outputs to the PC via USB.

Well then If i get something like an Uno usb Midi interface and plug the output of the A-880 into it, then plug the ozone, Clavinova, midi guitar etc presumably that will work.?

All seems very hard. I'll go and get another Beer, maybe things will then be clearer.

Just put a USB-MIDI cable in a spare USB port. That will give you MIDI.

I've heard some problems with things that call themselves a 'cable' when it's actually an interface. (really cheap ones) The uno is a quality interface from what I've seen of it but is it going to be enough midi I/O for your setup in the future? You can get a used multiport interface for about the same money if you watch the auctions.

Midi is handy for remote control and FX units need midi for tempo etc. A 4in6out unit works for me.

Good point !! I don't really know what's going on with the USB port. MIDI cable is pretty much just simple networking cable with a different plug. Interface implies some sort of "chip" to rearrange things for compatibility.

I got a Turtle Beach USB-MIDI cable with my used Kawai. It's heavy duty and has junction box in the middle of it, but I don't know if there is anything electronic in there. I'm still using joystick and mini-DIN soundblaster cables, too.
