Midi Quistion

Hey Guys

Heres a quistion, me and a few mates are making an exam project wich involes to control both the light, vidio, and sound thu midi. The trick is that when you hit a note, lets say midi channel 1, on the midi keyboard were going to have a sequence running with a song of some kind. But my quistion is, how can i make my midi channel 1 playback this piece of music? its going to be wav files that it has to control.

If it's a sequence just have the music in the sequence, it's going to be all automatic or your going to trigger it live?

My friend used to do live theater with his computer. He was really into soundfonts, so put the door slamming into a soundfont and trigger it with the midi when it happened. Seems like you could do short music clips that way...

But he had different BGmusic clips open in sound forge and would just play them at intermission etc.

So if you didn't have soundfont card you would have to get into a sampler. You can control stop and start of cubase with midi notes using the GM remote control. Haven't tried it like that. But if your not running the sequencer and doing all live cues it could be used like that. That's the definition of a sampler, triggering soundfiles with midi. (and modifying them)


Get it setup and experiment.

You could have BG music in your sequence going all the time and mute and unmute the track with midi.
