high,
i use cubase sx 3, when i click into my key editor to write a sequence at the bottom of the page i can bring up a number of controller lanes, e.i transpose, modulation etc, i was wondering are these a universal thing. i don't really understand , weather all controllers are relevant to every individuel instrument
or is it just some dependent on the instrument features. plus need to find out there relativeness to each other again for instance the expression would be relevant to the main volume to create phrasing and the cut off and modulation would be relevant to altering sound within the sequence are there any more of these relation ships that you know of. the other thing that confuses me is if you count zero there are 128 parameters, but when you use the figure 128 on the the controller lanes i would like to know its function e.i if its time do i divide it by 4 to find out my beat time, 128 is it pitch as in each key, for instance is my modulation figure that i type in altering pitch or velocity of that modulation. i think there are a lot of people that would really benefit from an article on this, as its not the run of the mill stuff but would clarify to people how to take that precision control. i have been writing for some time now and like every one come on for three months and fade a bit and then same again. i know my cu base pretty well and this would be one of the last hurdles for me to start producing full song, please help......
