Midi Keyboard

Hey guys,
I'd like to use midi with logic so i am getting a keyboard wit midi in/outs. Can i then connect the keyboard to the computer using a cable with midi on one end and a usb on the other? And still record midi in Logic?

I'm seeing more and more of these. I've never used one, but if they are making them I'm sure they work. You may need a special driver to get it to work. Once you are getting MIDI into your computer, you should be off to the races.

Question...is there a simple freeware midi app jsut to test midi is working on the PC first? I havce an old Casio CT-640 , a PC and a MIdi cable (2x5pins and 1xUSB). Trying it in n-track but cant seem to get anything. So jsut wanted to test with a reliable small APP to see if we at least getting a connection correctly.

If there is a MIDI tester, I've never heard of it. I know that Cubase has a meter in the transport bar that functions like this. Even if MIDI isn't routed to individual tracks, Cubase will at least let you know if MIDI is even coming into the software at all.
