midi guitar software interface (NOT MIDI GUITAR)

So I am starting to use VSTI's and adding midi to my music. I am currently using the midi key editor in cubase LE to make my music tracks.

Is there any software (preferably not very $$$, or even better - free), that will let me input the midi notes mouse click by mouse click using a guitar fretboard instead of a keyboard/piano editor.

I just like the idea because I can play my notes, chords, and scales no problem on the guitar. But it takes me some time (and too much brain power) to convert them into piano keys.

I tried searching google, but I got too much crap about guitar hero, guitar lessons and irrelevant stuff. I don't know exactly what the terminology would be for something like this.

What would it be called, a guitar fretboard key editor??

I'm sure there are some out there. If anyone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated.

i know this wont be the answer your looking for but trust me on this one, get used of the piano roll as soon as you master it you wont want it any other way,

im guessing your a axe player who feels more comfortable seeing frets and knowing some axe shapes to try? if it helps you use your axe then find the notes on the roll,, there is software what will do what your lookin for like steinberg virtual bassist etc but its not very good and very limited,
