Default MIDI Controller Sustain

Say, I wanted to use a MIDI keyboard at a gig. A simple one that only had MIDI In/Out and a power socket, and I was going to plug a sound module into it.

Is there such thing as a MIDI sustain pedal, that I can plug into the MIDI In socket, so I can play some nice pianos?

My MIDI controller has an input for a regular sustain pedal, as I think most controllers do. All the ones I've dealt with have anyway, they were mainly M-Audio controllers.

There are some midi pedals that can be set to send out any message you want so could be setup as sustain.

Also if your keyboard doesn't have a pedal input seems like midi solutions has something that will take a regular pedal and put out midi but they run into money.

Get a decent controller keyboard?

There are a lot of keyboards that are piano oriented. They usually have the pedal option because of the instrument. I suspect a good many of these will outperform a sound mod..

In the WORST case you can also set up your controller to send CC64 on any slider or button... sort of a manual (hand-controlled) sustain.

And oh, you might have to grow another arm....
